I think a District bike would be perfect for me. I hope to find a cheap (second hand) 2nd District on the web somewhere, and change it into a belt-driven bike.
I would like to find some info about this conversion, but it seems like the forums are broken. :(

"There are some really cheep looking belt drive freewheels out there as well."

How do you figure?? Phil Wood is the only company that makes a belt drive freewheel. At $200+, "Cheap" and "Phil Wood" don't belong on the same page together. The Strida's freewheel is in the bottom bracket and is beyond incompatible. Belt freewheels do not exist. People who run 120mm frames, i.e. everyone who rides fixed, have no belt drive parts available, period. Fail.

Hello Plinio,
i would like to to the same, if i buy the district. But i have to know one point.
Are the sprockets 100% in alignment? Was it just a swap of the hub or do you had to do some special work for 100% alignment?

greetings from Berlin

Just picked a soho with a similar belt drive. Second day of riding, it was -10 celcius with light snow on the ground, 4 km into my communte the belt drive starts coming off like every 30 seconds.

What's up with that? Going to give the shop 1 chance to adjust before returning. It would be painful to return cause it's a sweet ride.

What's up trek?

I've had the lucky privilege of getting a 3rd District - thus far the only one I've seen in Melbourne.

Yes, I was shocked at the aesthetics - the pearl and champagne theme reminded me of my first road racer, and I was even more surprised when I took my first ride. It felt perfect!

I like to practice all sorts of things while commuting, short of bunny hops (the fork is carbon). A track stand, handsfree riding, cornering at speeds - all of which the 3rd District handled like a full-fledged racing machine. Honestly, it's handling isn't far below Cannondale 6 carbon.

It's a pity Trek is discontinuing the District variants. They truly are bikes for the discerning rider.
