First Modified Trek?

This picture comes from Mark T and are the first pictures I have seen of a District with anything other than OEM parts on it. Mark added some cut down straight bars and toe clips with leather straps. Personally I think it looks brilliant!
Thanks Mark! Send more pics!
Anyone else changed things up on the District?

I was riding my old race peugeot in London Fields, Hackney, London yesterday and I spotted my first live District (I was hoping it would be mine I’d see first but c’est la vie). It was a german guy who had a 60 cm model. It looked great and he was confused at first when I asked him how he got it. He said he just walked into a store and liked it and bought it after the shop owner had ordered a few 60s. I told him it was very sort after and he was pleased having had no idea. (!)
Looking at the bike I thought there were a few things that could immediately change. I like the bars but agree cut downs would look great. Also the pedals look quite cheap, anything else would be an improvement. Toe clips especially
Lastly that drive guard is begging to be removed, it’s nicely retro, but I’d love to play with seeing the whole belt naked, to me that’s a big part of the FIxie Inc demo bike’s appeal.

Dale, the pedals are cheap. Just fitted SPD’s a worthwhile modification. The drive guard is only held on with a few screws – I’m sure it would look great without, not sure what would happen if you got shoe laces or trouser caught though.

Just seen this bike at our local shop and almost bought it on impulse but was put off by the orange wheels. Do you know if they can be replaced with black rims? just that I’d feel a bit gay riding it.

my district should arrive tomorrow and if everything goes the way I am planning, it should be made into a fixed gear asap.

I just got mine today! Looks great, very light, and really quiet. I also had the handle bar replaced with a chopped straight one. I’ve been riding it all day, truly a great ride, even on the strets of Brooklyn!

My District came in yesterday, and I added A pair of mks toe clips, SOMA Brown Leather toe straps, which match perfectly with the saddle amd handle bar grips. I also Bought a SOMA hemp top tube pad, in orange,It isnt as bright as the orange on the bike, and it is a very snug fit across the front. I’m going to look in to a bici concept top tube pad, maybe something in orange or brown..

Hey Terry! Black rims can definitely be added aftermarket. it’s a standard wheel size. Velocity has got some great options. The shop should definitely be able to help you out!

I’m dying to get a Brooks saddle to throw on mine, it will look awesome with the other leather accents

cool bike
can I ask, where are you getting the flat straight bars from in UK. I can`t seem to find any.

The drive guard is necessary for stabilizing the tracking of the belt and should not be removed. It does not function like a typical chain guard. It is
a necessity.

Dan, I’ve removed mine and have since done about 200 miles without any problems.

My District is great in dry weather, but the belt/sprocket interface squeeks in the wet. The price of Districts has gone up £150 to £750 since i bought mine. If anyone wants to buy one, Bike Zone in Oxford still have one in stock. They also have one of the 7 speed Soho belt drives (Not at all nice if you ask me!)

Have worked on my bike since last message and discovered the source of the noise. There is a crown nut which tightens on the rear sprocket which had loosened causing the sprocket to drift, after tightening it NO MORE NOISE! By the way, I took the chainguard off mine with no ploblems.
