Have faith guys - only just got back from the bike shop on mine. I placed the order early December, a long wait but worth it. 1st ride was about 14 miles - absolutely loved it! Still buzzing, I'll take a few pics and post to this site soon :)

ya, I've had one order from Trek Toronto for a while, I'm being told mid to late June.

I agree with the Doc: Trek, get your act together.

All I can say is there better not be another delay or I will lose all hope.

I heard from a source deep inside Trek that there has been MAJOR production issues that has been delaying the release of the District. They're still trying to fix the problem and are shooting for June at this point. He says less than 10 has been shipped out so far.

What the actual problem is, he did not say.

Is the delay adding to the mystique of this bike, or is it just annoying at this point?

Had I known it was going to take this long, I would have built a custom belt driven bike with SPOT instead.

I got word from Evans in the UK and I've been given "early next week" as an ETA for my bike. I'll be interested in checking out the geometry and I'll post my comments should I receive it and get to ride around in the spring time weather.

If it turns up it'll be nice timing, it's just starting to turn warmer here.

I live less than a mile from a Trek concept store in Jacksonville, Fla. I've been visiting this website for months as I've eagerly awaited the District to arrive. Anyhow, I rode it this weekend. I have a Soho S and love that bike. After spending a good 30 minutes on the District I got back on my Soho S and forgot about the District.

The District isn't a bad bake, but there were a couple of things I didn't like. My main concern was that my heels kept hitting the frame as I peddled. It seems to be much wider in the back.

Other little things I didn't like were looking at the bright orange rim in the front; even as i looked straight ahead I was still picking up flashes of orange in my peripherals. Also, and this is probably just me, I've gotten used to the wide handlebar of the Soho S or maybe I just have wide shoulders, but I simply felt as if my hands were too close together on the District.

I like the idea of a belt driven bike, however, I felt absolutely no difference between riding with belt or a chain. Plus, I keep my bike well maintained and already enjoy a silent riding experience. I think I'll wait until the next generation of belt driven bikes come along before I put my money down.

do not get your hopes up. My LBS said that Trek still had ZERO in inventory as of 4/19/09 and I talked to someone who is close to trek and they said the reps got emails telling them that the district eta was still unknown and they had no explanation. I am going to pull my order tomorrow and get a madone or just a 2.1 and flatbar it.

I can't actually believe it suddenly started shipping. I was near to pulling my order. Fingers crossed it'll be in London soon at Evan's Cycles
